How A Ring Is Made

We are a very small boutique ring company so we cannot stock all 19 sizes of every ring.  Because of that, we make all rings at the time they are ordered.

  1. Design: The first step in making a ring is to come up with a design. In most cases, we already have the ring designed and completed but we can also design a new ring for your organization.  This can be done by sketching the design by hand or using computer software to create a 3D model of the ring.

  2. Materials: Once the design is finalized, the material for the ring are chosen by you. This can include 18k gold plating with a copper core or solid sterling silver.  Learn the difference between the two here.

  3. Casting: From there, we will cast using a mold. The mold is made by creating a wax model of the ring and then casting it in plaster. Once the plaster has hardened, the wax is melted out and the molten metal is poured into the mold.

  4. Finishing: Once the ring has been cast, it will be polished and finished to create a smooth surface. This involves a variety of tools and techniques, such as filing, sanding, and buffing.

  5. Setting: All of our rings include AAA grade cz diamonds. They will be hand set into the ring using prongs and bezels.  Some of the czs will be glued depending on the design of the ring and available space for prongs.

  6. Engraving: Finally, the ring may be engraved with a message or design to personalize it for the wearer for an additional fee.
